Freyja: The Power Behind the Pin-up

Freyja, the Germanic goddess associated with Love, War and Seidhr calls on her devotees to step into their power, embrace their beauty, and live their magic. We will explore the many and varied faces of Freyja throughout the lore, celebrating the shining amber that flickers through the mists of history and patriarchy. We will discuss how Freyja is honored now, ways to work more closely with her, and uncover the sovereign power beneath the pin-up depictions.

Friday, October 20th, 7 PM Eastern: Shadow Work: Healing the Sacred Self
(free for Patreon Supporters)

The collective body of repressed, hidden, and destructive parts of our psychology is referred to in witchcraft as our shadow. Shadows are nothing to be ashamed of – all of us have them. It’s everything that got shoved into the box our culture labeled ‘bad.’ Along with very real work that needs to be done on areas of trauma, there are some incredibly shiny, powerful bits of self hiding in the darkness. Learning to manage our shadows benefits our relationships, the cycles we find ourselves falling into, our spirituality, magic, and experiences. In this workshop we’ll cover what shadow is, how it manifests, and how to begin working with it.

This workshop will be recorded for folks who can’t make the Zoom in person, and sent out for download after the workshop concludes.

The workshop fee is $15. Sliding scale ticket options of $5 and $10 are available for folks who face financial obstacles to attending the workshop. Register here.

Sunday, October 22nd, 10:30 AM Eastern: Sermon: “Hope is a Practice”
at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Frederick and on Zoom

Join me in person or online for a service on hope and how to cultivate it. The Zoom link for service will be available at FrederickUU(dot)org. It’s always a pleasure and honor to speak at my home congregation, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to share my own thoughts on hope.

Saturday, October 28th, 12 PM: Pagan and Heathen Grave Visit at Arlington National Cemetery

Every year near Samhain, my spouse Ash and I visit the known Pagan and Heathen graves at Arlington National Cemetery to make offerings, say the names aloud, and honor our fallen Pagan veterans. After several requests, this year we are opening their annual visit to others. We will meet at the Welcome Center at Arlington National Cemetery at noon on Saturday, October 28th.
Our tour will include stopping at the Pagan (marked by a Pentacle) and Heathen (marked by a Thor’s Hammer) graves we know of – a total of ten graves at this time. This route will involve a fair bit of walking, so please wear comfortable, supportive shoes. Remember to bring a water bottle as well. Appropriate grave offerings include flowers, wreaths, small flags, recitations of praise, songs, and chants. Food and beverages other than water are prohibited at the cemetery.
There is a security check at the cemetery, so please remember to bring ID and leave any inappropriate items in the car.
Our visit should take around two hours, allowing time for exploring the cemetery/taking a tour afterwards. If you haven’t been before, it’s a beautiful sanctuary with tram tours that depart every 20 minutes for the well-known graves and memorials on site.
